Butbut

The Butbut people, originally hailing from five villages in the southern regions of the Tinglayan municipality in Kalinga, Central Northern Luzon, have a rich history of migration and cultural expansion.

In the late 19th century, many from the tribe ventured to the northeastern part of the province, establishing additional Butbut settlements that eventually evolved into villages. Revered by neighboring ethnic groups for their commitment to unity, the Butbut people have embraced Christianity, and Christian churches now thrive in all Butbut areas, actively contributing to the ongoing translation efforts that underscore the preservation of their language, culture, and origins.
