Dabawenyo Mandaya
Mandaya is a language spoken in various municipalities of Davao Oriental and Davao del Norte provinces in the Philippines.
The name "Mandaya" itself signifies the people who dwell in the uplands, encompassing mountainous and valley regions. While the language is consistent across most areas, Cateel, being the first municipality in Mindanao where the Spaniards arrived, has unique variations and traces of Spanish influence, particularly among the older generation who use Spanish words no longer familiar to the younger generations.
