Our Projects
Itneg Maeng
The Itneg Maengs' domain spans across the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Mountain Province, Kalinga, and Apayao, reflecting the diverse geography of their homeland.
They engage in swidden farming, fishing, and hunting, with rice being their primary agricultural crop, cultivated through both dry and wet methods. The close-knit structure of Itneg villages, each consisting of around 50 interconnected homes, is a testament to their strong community bonds. Known by various names, including Luba-Tiempo Itnegs and Southern Itnegs, many of them reside in the towns of Tubo, Luba, and Villaviciosa. Of note, the Maeng Itnegs speak a distinct Itneg language, closely related to Northern Kankanaey, a language spoken in the Mountain Province, emphasizing the linguistic diversity in the region.
