Mandaya Caraga
Nestled along the eastern coast of Davao Oriental, the Municipality of Caraga, with its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, is home to the Mandayan people. These inhabitants thrive through coconut farming on their lands and fishing in the sea, strongly preserving their rich culture and traditions.
Though Christian churches have established themselves in the area, they often serve the Mandayan community as outsiders, leading to a desire for greater autonomy in matters of faith and language. The Mandanya Caraga, specifically, have developed their own dialect and distinct expressions within the larger Mandayan community. Some leaders have initiated oral Bible translation as a means to reach the Mandayan people, emphasizing the importance of language and culture.
