Munkalyon

In central Ifugao, the language variety spoken is referred to by neighboring Ifugao tribes as "Munkalyon," signifying 'those who speak Kalyon.'

The primary livelihood of this community revolves around wet farming, capitalizing on the hilly terrain. Throughout the region, communal and family-owned forests blanket the higher elevations. The people's traditional homes, perched above the ground, are constructed using a combination of wood and bamboo, featuring thatched roofing. These architectural and linguistic elements define the unique culture and origins of the central Ifugao population.
