Palanan Agta
The Palanan Agta, a distinct Agta subgroup in Palanan, Isabela, Northern Philippines, preserve their language, culture, and origins as semi-nomadic hunter-gatherers, with a population of approximately 1,500.
While they continue to live in huts made of branches and dried leaves, their way of life involves a diversified, opportunistic approach to securing essential resources. Some Agta have integrated with lowlanders, and their transportation to Palanan is primarily by plane or boat due to its remote location. Despite the challenges posed by the rainy season, which limits crop cultivation, they primarily focus on rice farming and hunting for sustenance.
