Pulangiyen

The Pulangiyen, a community of fewer than 10,000 individuals, dwell near the Pulangi River, an area steeped in historical and cultural significance with roots in animistic beliefs that inform community leadership.

They have interacted with a few local churches, such as the Bible Baptist church, in their efforts to share their faith. Nevertheless, there remains a shortage of indigenous leaders within the Pulangiyen community. This challenge has led to initiatives, starting in 2018, to preserve their language and culture, emphasizing Oral Bible translation.
