Upper Manay
Manay, a term used in the Davawenyo dialect to address an older sister, was historically inhabited by the Mansaka and Mandaya ethnic groups.
The Mandaya tribes of Manay maintained their tribal identity but gradually embraced Christianity influenced by Spanish missionaries. During recent decades, Evangelical churches gained prominence, forming strong connections with the local government on spiritual matters. Many Christian leaders among the Mandayas became influential in the broader Southern Mindanao region.
